Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@blemex.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Scars form as part of the body’s natural healing process when the deeper layer of skin—the dermis—is damaged. During recovery, specialized cells called fibroblasts migrate to the wound site and begin producing collagen, the key protein that forms scar tissue.

In a typical healing process, collagen fibers align neatly—like dry spaghetti—creating a structured “bridge” across the wound. Over the next one to two years, this bridge gradually contracts, pulling the wound edges together and forming a thin, flat scar that eventually stabilizes and becomes inactive.

However, abnormal scarring can occur when excess collagen is produced or the fibers form chaotically—more like cooked spaghetti. This results in raised, red scars known as hypertrophic or keloid scars, which can cause discomfort, itching, and in severe cases, pain.

This 100% medical-grade silicone gel is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of scars. Its soft, silky texture glides effortlessly onto the skin, absorbing quickly without leaving any sticky residue—making it a comfortable and effective addition to any scar care routine.

Blemex® Scar gel should be applied twice daily—morning and evening—for 12 to 16 weeks, or until no further improvement in the scar’s size or appearance is noticed. Reapply if the area is washed. (Refer to usage instructions for full guidance)

Scars typically remain in an active healing phase for up to two years. During this time, fibroblasts work to repair the damaged skin by producing collagen—the key structural component of scar tissue. In theory, Blemex® Scar Gel is most effective when used within this two-year window. However, many customers have reported visible improvements even on older scars beyond that period.

Blemex® is gentle enough for children and safe for continuous, 24-hour use. It rinses off easily with soap and water and can be reapplied as soon as the skin is dry.

Blemex® is safe for facial use; however, avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.

No adverse effects have been reported in association with Blemex® use.

Clean the affected area and pat dry. Apply a thin layer of Scar Gel directly to the scar, massaging gently. Wipe away any excess with a tissue until fully dry and non-sticky. Use twice daily—morning and evening. May be covered with makeup or camouflage products.

It’s simple—Blemex® is backed by scientific research, trusted by customers for over a decade, and supported by a money-back guarantee and outstanding customer service. While many others try to replicate our success, we remain the original standard in scar care.

No, there's no harm in continuing to use Blemex® beyond the recommended period; however, once you stop seeing noticeable improvement, further application is unlikely to add benefit.

Once your scar has finished improving, it won’t regress. We recommend continuing treatment with Blemex® until progress plateaus—there’s no need to keep applying it after that point.

We stand behind our products. If you’re not completely satisfied, simply return them for a full refund of the purchase price—excluding shipping. No questions asked.

Both Blemex® Gel and Sheeting are similarly effective when used as directed. However, sheeting can be difficult to keep in place on certain areas like elbows, skin folds, or facial features. The gel offers greater flexibility and can be applied easily almost anywhere on the body. Based on customer feedback, most users prefer the gel for its convenience and ease of use.
